Hi All -
I have a '00 GS with 29K on the clock. Not the first owner so don't have a complete service record - the bikes been serviced regularly though according to the log and it runs fine. My query/problem is this - added a little coolant last week as it was almost sitting at the minimum mark in the expansion tank. All good - done maybe 300 miles or so since. Yesterday i bumped up a curb (A rather large kurb and sloppily performed) and immediately I heard a hiss and steam was coming out somewhere at the top of the cooling system. As it was dark I couldn't see much with my little torch so left it until this morning. Took of the side panel and it appears that the leak (It was like something from a 70's road movie - steam everywhere until I killed the engine) was from the nipple on the top of the expansion tank as everything from there down is damp and blue-ish from the coolant. Topped up the coolant this morning and took it for a short warm up ride around the block - everything back to normal, no red light (the light has never come on except when about to start the engine), no leaks or hissing noises. I'm baffled as to why this would happen. Anybody got any ideas? I've checked the chain gang already.
Sorry for the long post but hoping someone has an idea.
