got a card through the door saying they are having for a limited period discounts on clothing twat 2jacket was £415 now £290 rallye gs2 boots now £150 might pop in tommorrow after we have been to the hill

Was going to go down tomorrow to suss out a System 5, but bought an Arai off M&P instead...

:beerjug:

Bought a twat suit for around £550 off them.
They have 30% off them but if they dont have your size in stock they order them for you but you get less discount (slightly).

been down they havent many in but it was quiet they also have the gs for the vertically challenged (little people) the 1200 and 600 with the low suspension my mate could even touch the deck he normally has to stop near a kerb to touch down

Why are they selling everything at 30% off, that's a serious cut in their profit margin? This offer has been on since January. I bought a System 5 for £208 (RRP £280).

They'd be daft to pack-in: It's the only BMW bike dealer within 100 miles - Captive audience..

Reading bmw had a fairly captive audience and were always busy.
when they relocated to kent they sent me an invite and servicing details.
like i'm going to travel up to two hours via the m25.;)

The 30% off only applies to stock, so either they are getting rid of stock to close down or they are expecting a whole load of "this years" gear to arrive. :nenau

Don,t think they are closing down. The other day my Wife overheard them discussing making the Bike section bigger and business is booming !!.

speaking to salemen steve and paul on saturday they told me they just cant get enough bike to sell new or second hand there was not one second hand adv and only a few second hand gs 1200s also only one new gsa waiting to be collected by its owner. compaired to a few weeks ago they had four second hand gsa and about nine sg 1200s and if oyu order a new gsa now you may get it in july?

They can afford to keep the place open and pay the staff for a few more weeks: I just paid for my 36,000 service....

:fiddle

They have one of these sales every year, no doubt when they claim that they are selling a £280 helmet at cost for £180 they fail to mention to up to 200% profit margin on helmets and clothing.
I've been to enough of the motorcycle trade only shows in the past to stop being shocked at how cheap the stuff is.
Anyway what would be the problem of them closing down the bike side of their operations, then perhaps a real motorcycle dealership would get the franchise.

yes there not a real bike shop i wish m and s would get the bmw franchise they a much better to deal with not like the dull lot at the mill..

M&S lost the franchise a few years ago.

I had my F650GS from the Durham branch.

Servicing was good but they had no accessories etc.

I find the "Boldon Bunch" fine now that I know them a bit.

Horses for courses, I guess.

Maybe they should offer a better deal on the bikes they buy in and they might get some more 2nd hand ones to sell...

Was in there the other week after a price on my 1200 (not to trade in) and the offer was laughable! Went home and rang couple of other non BMW dealers and was offered £900 more than what Cooper offered me (again, just as a cash sale), including free collection from my house!

Paul in servicing at Cooper does a good job, he's always been helpful and I'd say the service is equal to anything on the Hill, my impressions of M and S aren't good but thats based on Ducati and KTM ownership. Shaun and Dave in M and S clothing are good and very helpful as are custom lids.

Parts dept at Cooper seem to be OK as well, I'm waiting for parts not in stock in Germany and they let me know and asked if i wanted the other bits now in stock sending out immediately, most bike dealers wouldn't do that. TBH I'm not impressed by many bike dealers, they've got a lot to learn on customer service, which is where dealerships like Cooper can score if they get it right.

I was in on Saturday also and I agree with Chris, once you get to know the staff they are a really good bunch of lads they really make you feel welcome. And they don't try the old hard sell. When you go to M & S they sales staff never have any crack and all seem quite stand offish. I was in at Cooper (Sunderland) at the beginning of April having the 1st service carried out on my 07 GSA (for which Paul gave me 10% discount) and enquired about a new 08 model. Steve gave me all the details but also suggested that as my bike only had 3500 miles that I would be better of waiting until next year. I know it seems as though he was doing himself out of a sale but I really appreciated his advice. I'll definately go back for that alone.

I was in today getting new rear suspension linkage etc. I hadn't met Paul before. He came out with his umbrella to have a look at my bike. Seems a bit :ymca but a very nice chap. :thumb2

Other Paul? in servicing dept says they aren't closing but getting rid of stock to make way for new. I think they'll be relying on ordering stuff in rather than keeping lots in stock for the future.

how many other bike dealerships can you help yourself to a cup of cofee or a can of coke and cookies for free just for visiting the place i wouldnt use m&s i went in to see about buying an 1150 gsa se the blue and white one. the bike didnt have the engine bars on but he told me that the mechanics were selling a set on ebay so i checked when i got home and the picture of the bars was only of them fitted to the bike that i was going to buy they take off the non standard items and sell them on ebay so i rang and said put the bars back on the bike and i would buy it, we cant i was told so for that they lost the deal. after my mate bought a new 1200gsa from steve at coopers i told steve that i would like one but could afford a new one at present (doing extension on house) he rang me 5 months later to say he was getting his first second hand gsa in and if i wanted it to come and take a look for this and other reasons i would go back to cooper even if it is a 70mile round trip
