Featuring the new 4-valve DOHC boxer-twin engine, the R 1200 RT, R 1200 GS and R 1200 GS Adventure are sure to put a smile on your face. Only seen before on the HP2 Sport, this stunning power unit has been optimised to meet the specific requirements of each of these new bikes; with advanced engine management systems to meet the individual needs of enduro style riding on the R 1200 GS range, or all-day luxury touring use on the R 1200 RT.
With a maximum power of 110hp at 7,750 rpm, and an increase in torque to 120Nm at 6,000 rpm, you’ll really experience this new DOHC engine on the R 1200 RT at lower engine speeds – making booking your test ride a must-do! Additional innovations include the second generation Electronic Stability Suspension (ESA2), re-designed fairing to offer improved wind and weather protection, and the optional new audio system with an innovative Multi-Controller for your iPod or MP3 player.
After inventing the Adventure Sport bike genre in the 1980s the GS and Adventure have dominated ever since, and with its 5% increase in maximum power output, and significant improvements in torque, traction and acceleration, will continue to reign into 2010. With new colours and newly designed cylinder covers, the new 1200 GS models are well worth a test ride.
Finally, the last addition to the 2010 range is the F 800 R Chris Pfeiffer – which has long been the bike of choice for the four-time World and European Stunt-riding Champion. This special edition F 800 R comes complete with a range of features including an Akrapovic rear silencer, LED indicators, heated grips, and on-board computer – plus, the special edition paint work in BMW Motorsport colours.
