My apologies - it's not a Sergeant at all!

It has been made known to me by someone who is much better informed (Judge) :thumb that my seat is not a Sergeant but a Melvyn Hunter (Coventry) and in fact it appears on his website here http://www.motorbike-seats.co.uk/bmw.html

So my apologies for misleading everybody, it was done in good faith because I could have sworn that when I bought the bike of Simon Eassom he said it was a Sergeant. Put it down to a senior moment, I am over the half century after all :blast:blast:D

Thanks Andy for putting me right.

Errr it is still a comfy seat by the way and keeps my fat arse in comfort for many hours :clap

Falcoron,

Have you considered a BAGLUX/BAGSTER seat. I bought one at the NEC in Nov and have done a few miles on it. Comfy as feck and really looks the part. The old man, AKA SCHULTZ has one fitted to his GSA and he's only down the road from you. @7miles Belfast direction;)

I paid £400 but they refund £130 on return of your original seat. Something I haven't got round to yet:rolleyes:

If you have a pic phone give me your number and I can send you a couple of pics.

Falcoron,

I have a bagster on my 1150 adventure. I butchered mine because it was too high, but the quality of the workmanship is very good. The little valve poking out is my doing ( inserted an Airhawk )

( I went into the shop in Abergele and took my standard seat in exchange )

Hope it helps,

Thanks,
looks good. What did you originally order (size wise) i would be looking to lower my height. So do they give you money back for your old seat or just take it to remake this.
What sort of cost if not too ckeeky.
Thanks

falcron,

I went into the shop for a tank bag for a mate and asked if they did a seat for the adv :blast

They had one in stock & I got all dizzy like  so I put a deposit and went back next day with my BMW 'lower' seat in exchange ( they take it way and give you a new one there and then. + deduct the exchange from the bill total ) When I Got home and tried it it was a ' standard ' height which in my lust I forgot to check :o So it was a bit tall for me. Hence the butchery .

Not sure how the manage the exchange if you order online / phone etc but I pass abergele regularly so it was ok for me.

From memory ( not 100 pc reliable ) it was about 380 quid less 140 exchange for the donor .

Hope that helps.

Looks very good, and same as the baglux. So how much was it and how long did it take to do?
The thing i like about the baglux is that you can go onto the site design your own seat, pick whichever material and colour, or colours you want the decide how low, high, wide or whatever you need then you can choose to go with gel pads or not. There prices are very good compared to most others so it will be good to compare.
Havent ruled anyone in or out yet, but thanks a million for the info, very helpful.
If you would rather not disscuss price on the forum PM me, if you dont mind that is.
cheers

I've found my sargent seat to be the most comfortable for all day rides on my GSA. I had a corbin which was really comfy but was just a bit too big for my arse (it's a huge lump of a thing). I then got the sargent and whilst the foam isn't quite as comfy (hopefully will bed in a bit:P) it puts me in a much better position on the bike so more than makes up for it. I had bot at the same time and tried them back to back for comparison. At the end of the day they're a very subjective thing and what works for one might not be good for another. I reckon if you're more "generously" proportioned in the rear the corbin is probably more comfortable though. The corbin weighs a fekin ton and build quality doesn't seem as good as the sargents. I also tried a TT seat and found this the least comfortable but possibly better off-road due to it's skinnier profile.
I much prefer the twin seat set-up on my GSA as it gives more flexibility in terms of height (hi and low settings), you can just run a sargent/corbin front and standard rear (as i do as I rarely have a pillion) or you can just run with a front seat to give a large luggage area at the back. You also get a proper tool storage area with the twin seat set-up.
