Not sure if this is the right place to ask about corrosion. notices on my 09 plate a fair bit of corrosion. Even the wheels have small bubbles on the black paint. I would say last owner never washed bike after riding in winter. There are quite a few bits rusted up as well. I would say salt is the problem. small rusting on break discs and pads rusty like feck. And ideas or remedies to put right. Thanks.
Denis.

Sorry if in wrong section, not sure where to put.

Hi Denis, best thing to do to keep your bike looking good is to change as many bolts as you can to stainless. There are some very good sets on eBay as its a well known problem on GS's, front of the engine and throttle bodies are easy to do. Make sure you use anti seize grease on the new bolts.
Probolt do good stainless bolts for the brake calipers and as far as your discs go, better to use a fine steel wool on the discs with nothing more than soapy water. The rims are common to blister near the spokes as are the hubs, so its just a case of keeping it clean and polished, ACF 50 is excellent at keeping rust away but for heavens sake do not get it on your discs as it will penetrate your pads and they will be knackered. At the end of the day if you use the bike it will age but better to use it than have it sitting looking pristine but never go anywhere.
