Thanks to a helpful lorry driver trying to knock me off (whilst filtering) this evening I'm trying to find out the list price of a couple of items:

1) The Plastic guards on the edge of each cylinder.

2) The plastic 'bit' on the end of the pillion footpeg which the BMW panniers rest on.

Hopefully if someone can let me know what BMW charge for these items I can negotiate with the nice lorry driver's firm and avoid the need for contacting my insurance company etc.

Thanks,

Andrew

£67 for a pair of cylinder head protectors.

At least!

I've left the bits on the garage floor and am saving up for some real bars - at less than twice the price and offer real protection!

Twinspark c/h protectors are different....

and these are ~£45 each from Motorworks.

A Jeep Cherokee dis the same thing to me a few weeks ago!

Thanks guys for the replies.

I think I'll be buying some new parts from BMW, and send the invoice to the lorry driver's firm. Hopefully they'll settle this as the driver did admit it was his fault.

Thanks,

Andrew

I suggest you 'forget' the drivers admission of culpability in your dealings with his insurance company. Technically, an admission of guilt invalidates the cover............

Huh? Please explain... if I admit an accident was my fault (or conversely if someone else accepts the accident was caused by them), then whoever caused the accident, their insuarnce is invalidated by the acceptance of blame?

As I understand it the insurance company will still settle the claim, but may then try to recover the costs from you for breeching your contract with them.
