We thought the car a corsair

its not,,, turns out its a thunderbird

I like that very much

Home at about 2pm with the exhaust slowly getting noisier and noisier accompanied by a strange resonance at exactly 77mph & up. Parts will be ordered from Gutsibits shortly. Tent out on the line but in true Lancashire style it’s cool & cloudy with tiny rain droplets floating down so it’s going to take a while to dry.

Thanks to all for a great weekend in particular Paul and Brian for doing the organising and Tom for the rideout, and also to everyone on the rideout that took the wrong turn behind me. That meant me and Tom had to go back along probably the best stretch of road we went on to try and find you all, and then oh dear how sad we couldn’t find you so had to do the entire stretch again. B4437 from Nr Burford to Charlbury for reference.

Looking forward to next year already.
About the same for me, tent was dry when i put it away this morning , its in the shed now until next time lol

Gentlemen, that looked a great weekend. A good venue, lots to see, quality beer and plenty of it. what's not to like. 🍻

(I must admit when I first saw the thread title, 'The Gate Hangs High', I thought it was going to be a Spaghetti Western tribute weekend).

I popped into the restaurant on the way out to check if everyone had paid for their meals, mistakes can happen to any of us.
Funny you should say that as one of our venerable gentlemen turned up with just the right headgear for that sort of weekend! :D View attachment 543901
it’s an Aussie hat Toddy 🤣🤣

Exhaust sorted. Parts ordered Monday morning from Gutsibits- 2xseals, 2xclamps & 2xmanifold seals. I ought to have ordered a 3rd seal for silencer to collector box as well but it went back ok. It all arrived this morning and as it was warm and sunny at the top of my drive I cracked on and got the whole exhaust off, cleaned and back together in a couple of hours. It’s lost its bark but still sounds nice and meaty. The joint where the leak was had no seal whatsoever remaining but lots of lumps of graphite fell out the collector box when I got it off. Test ride tomorrow 😁

I found a good method to open up the tangs on the pipes to allow the delicate graphite seals slide in nice and easily: jam a pair of plumber pipe wrenches jaw end first into the pipe and open the handles to force open the tangs. A bit of heat made this a doddle. Gently gently though as once hot the tangs bent very easily.

Well I like it, and it does what it is designed to do, but it’s not a behemoth on steroids like a magnificent van I know Richard 😉

They were waxing lyrical about how well the conversion had been done. By a ship builder, if I’m correct?
