Counting messages in Outlook folders??? Heeelp!

Is there a function that tells me how many messages there are in each of my Outlook folders? I put my work enquiries in monthly folders, but to compare months I have to count how many recieved emails there are in each folder. There must be an easier way?

With Outlook open, click on a folder and then look at the bottom left of the Outlook window. It should say something like xxx Items, xxx Unread

It should say something like xxx Items, xxx Unread

and if you don't see that - you may have to go into the "View" menu and tick "Status Bar"
