All I wanted was a foot pump. So I went to Halfords. What I got was a load of shite that collapsed and buckled after a few days. In desperation I bought an electric one..it failed after a fortnight. Throwing caution to the wind I paid extra for their more expensive foot pump..utter disintegration ensued. ..And this is as it has always been.

I can already hear the chorus of voices saying 'So why go on buying them at Halfords?'.

Have you tried buying a footpump elsewhere? Charlie Brown's perhaps.

It seems there is only one manufacturer of these things..a little guy in Bangladesh perhaps who forges them out of bits of gash telephone wire. A tin shack in The Upper Volta. God only knows, but they are sent to us to frustrate...someone is taking the piss and that someone probably pays himself a million pound salary funded by crap like that.

Ben,

Ive got a Draper foot pump that works, the pressure gauge is miles out though, best of all its British made.;)

meat who

I bought a new shiny one from Halfodds as my old one was looking a bit crappy.
Good job I never threw the old one away, it has out lasted the pretender which died within 12 months.

If I recall correctly mine came from Argos - well made, sensible price and still working. In fact the prices were so good I went for a double barrel job!

Buy a good quality track pump from your local mountainbike specialist. I've got a Wrenchforce one, only takes a few strokes to pump the tyres up to correct pressure and the guage is accurate. Top build quality, if at a little more dosh than a shitty foot pump. Worth it in MHO.

I got an electric one from Argos, has 9.6v nicad's inside so works independantly and also has a 12v external cable to clip to the battery, I cut the clips off and fitted a plug for the power socket.
Its not too big either goes just nice in the small pannier with the other tools or in the top box.
