Hi GSers,
I'm new to the forum, and will soon be getting a GS (shhh-- it's a 1200 so many of you will think I'm nuts). All the GSs have a stupid looking plastic "mudguard" at the rear which I think is there because German regulations state that the rear most part of the bike must not be an exposed wheel. My question is "Most GSers seem to remove it but does this mean you get spray over your back and if so what do you do about it (other that ride with a pillion)?
Cheers JG

Splash Guard

Fit a Touratech Splash Guard behind the rear numberplate. Or make your own.

I have seen converted plastic paint roller trays!!!!!!!!

They work well.

cheers

Yes sir, thats just under ten grand for the bike and 75p for the paint roller tray to stop the shite going over the engine..............

German engineering at its finest....not!

BTBR ;)

Huggers, Touratech crap-flaps, you name it; IMHO none of them make the difference between the bike needing a wah or not!

Fit them so style by all means, but with hundreds of gallons of road-dirtied water spraying around during every wet trip, none of these gizmos will make a huge difference.

they seem to create a lot of turbulance and lead to spreading of crap rather than retention. Lengthen the numberplate (various companies have such products even the great Vern - that apparently is the ideal. Haven´t had time to do this myself, but will shortly.

Agree they look crap but can't say I've been that bothered about it to either remove or replace with a 'mudflap'. Useful place for a 'GB' sticker
