Bike gets lazy every now & again (only twice honest!) and decides to have a lay down,
has anybody got crash bars?
what types?
how effective are they?

:shoot: I did not tell you that the bike is an F650GS but thats technical so what do I know?:angel :

Jan,

I used to have a F650, I fitted the Hepco and Becker crash bars, I 'Tested' them in Whitby in a car park, the bars saved the bike apart from a scuffed bar end.
I have the Touratech bars on my current 1100GS but fortunatly I haven't tested them yet! Hope this helps, ride safe:)

ive got the genuine BMW ones on my 650 (mine has not layed itself down yet but ive had a couple of close ones)

they seem good value for money to me considering they have the BMW tag on them, look good next to the engine (same colour) easy to fit and dont seem to cause any extra vibration.

HOWEVER!!!! if you've got the low set version 650, dont try to go down or up kerbs, or else you scrape them

sending this on holiday in cornwall ... how sad is that???

hope this helps

We are looking at crash bars at the moment, the best ones so far look like Touratech they are: Engine bars part no 051-0523 £62.86 and Fairing bars part no 051-0524 £62.86
Both prices are inclusive of vat.
You can phone Touratech on 01792816660 or order from their web site. :beerjug:

Touratech

I agree with Andy, having investigated crash bars before we went to Morocco the touratechs were favourite, however we decided to spend the money on beer instead. Needless to say I dropped the bike but the only damage was scratched handguards and bar ends.
