I'm looking to protect my new bike's exposed bits from any potential spill. What do you think is my most cost effective option? Crash bars are scary expensive; is there an alternative?
Also, I'm finding the stock screen ineffective above 60mph. I'm 6ft and like to sit up pretty straight. Are tobinators going to be a winner?
Cheers in advance of any info! :)

me same height - i popped a touratwek spoiler on for a (silly) £70 and it is like a new bike now. Very effective.

Everyone else will be along in a moment I'm sure

I'm 6'3" and tobinators work for me.

Steptoe's head guards are as good as crash bars and cheaper, though I think he's just sold out again. Best to register your interest to see when he'll make some more.

I'm 6'2". I put the Tobinators on my 1150GSA screen first. They helped, but even after much fiddling about with different settings, they didn't cure it alltogether. Recently added the TT screen extension. Now with the screen set at the original rake, but set as high as possible on the Tobinators, with the TT extension on top it's bloody brilliant. Visor up riding at 80/90mph.

All the bugs that used to get splatted on my visor, now meet their demise on the TT extension.

Something else to consider is the skidmarx.co.uk tall touring screen for the 1150GSA. Costs about £60.00 plus P&P and is about 4" taller than the original screen, so cheaper than the TT extension & Tobinators by a long way. If I'd known about it before I got the Tobinators, I'd probably have given it a try first.

Anyone used one of the skidmarx screens?

I'm 6'7 and have a 80% perfect set up with an Adventure screen with Tobinators on a stock 2002GS. If I slouch I can get it just right but that's not practical. Just bought an MRA Vario but if I want Tobinators will have to buy non-Adventure ones so going to try it without first.

The TT extender gets some good press so may look for a second hand one.....

I've also fitted winglets which shift the air on to your forearms and also help a little.

I must be nearly there by now......

1: Steptoe's head guards, I've put the bike down twice on road and the head guards did there job well, I'm always worried what bars can do to the frame, or in the Adv case, flip the bike over onto the tank. :thumb2

2: TT spoiler, whilst it produces a bit more noise, it allows me to sit at 95mph without any buffeting of my head, they really do work :thumb2

I did try an MRA screen, but for me it was a total waste of money, then again some people swear by them.
