I was on the Ridgeway yesterday - at the Lambourn crossing (B4011) a guy on a CBR600 lost it on a right hander, heading N. He hit his brakes on a damp, loose surface, dropped the bike on it's rhs and slid with and without it for about 25m along tarmac. Landed on a verge.
He got away with a suspected broken collar-bone - but when I checked him over it was clear his gear had saved him - boots, full leathers, strong gloves, quality helmet. All were damaged/scraped/filled with gravel. He walked away.
