Now, bear with me on this one 'cos I'm new to all this. I've got myself a bit of free web space (30meg or so) so I thought I'd have a play. With the limited software & knowledge I've got I've used Powerpoint to produce a site with a few sample pics & uploaded it...

...test page here...

...or visit the site here...

So... firstly I need to know can anybody see it? I think logically that you should be able to but then as I'm fast learning logic tends to take some wierd twists when it comes to this.
Secondly, it doesn't seem to have any of the normal navigation tools that you usually get. Is this good/necessary/bad/selectable? (edit: oops, scratch that cos it does now... hmm, strange)
...& thirdly I think it's quite neat that the whole site resizes to the window your viewing in (good for a pic site, no good for text). I can't remember seeing a site that does this... is there a good reason for this? Is it annoying or a bonus?

Lastly is there a better package for creating a web site 'cos I'm quite enjoying this & I don't want to go too far down one path if there's a better way of doing it?

TIA

Brief answer, yes I can see it.

Frontpage or my preference Dreamweaver are better programs but need a certain "apprenticeship".

I could kind of send you a copy kind of know what I mean, guvner

Or I hear its possible to download the trial version of dw and then get a crack file off the net...

BTW www.freeparking.co.uk will sell you a dot com which will point to your free space. Very neat and only 30quid for two years. Makes it all much more pro

Cheers Richie

A guy at work uses Dreamweaver so I might give that a go. I'll stick to my freebie bit of space for the moment while I'm still playing... 'till I get to big for it of course. :P

I can see it but the experience is spoiled by the presentation being just a bit too basic. If you can go for a "proper" web site program then you should. I prefer Adobe GoLive though Dreamweaver is as good with Frontpage being accessible as a sort of introduction to the "dark art".

Richie made a good offer, but you might use a Mac in which case........

Andy... I agree, very basic. I was just seeing whether it would upload & run... which it seems to be doing ok.
I think I can lay my hands on a Dreamweaver so I'll give that a go.

Thanks for the feedback...
