I'm thinking of chopping my triumph for a C/Tourer or runner, I appreciate the runner ain't gonna win any beauty contests, but anyone ridden/owned both of either? Hoe do they compare to the valadero?

One "wee" issue might be seat height as I'm a short arse at 5'6" but I like the off road bikes riding position, having had enduro bikes and a GS for a while, I just feel drawn towards one of these Hondas

Advise welcome

I have only had a test ride on both, wasn't impressed with the Cross Runner it was just boring! The Cross Tourer has a good engine and was comfortable 2-up, we did about 120 miles on it. but I found it too tall as there was no option of a low seat then (there is now) I wasn't impressed with the luggage though although there are plenty of aftermarket options. I think it could have been a lot better, it's not bad but it's just no where as exciting as a GS LC or a Multistrada!

Enjoying my Crosstourer, superb engine, very comfortable, but the Honda top box is just plain stupid cause when extended there's a security issue :blast but as said before lots of options available . Had 2 1200Gs's but just fancied a change, so far so good :hapybnce:

Got the CT Highlander and absolutely love it. As said previously it's that engine, turbine smooth and goes like stink and despite early negative publicity the later models are economical on fuel, mine currently averaging just over 50 mpg.
As to the build quality, it's second to none, far superior to any of the other adventure bikes I've owned, 2 GS's and an S10.
Again as previously mentioned the luggage, specifically the top box could be greatly improved but there are plenty of alternatives available.
In my honest opinion it's by far the best bike I've owned in over 30 years of motorcycling - but as they say, each to there own.

I have a DCT Crosstourer. Build quality as has been said earlier is great, fit n finish all over is just superb. Everyone seems to agree the engine is its best point and it does not disappoint, it's incredible and has bags n bags of grunt. The DCT gearbox is not for everyone but once you've tried it you'll never go back to a manual. dual clutch transmission gearboxes are on most luxury super cars now and although Honda are the first to put into a bike, trust me all bike manufacturers will offer it in the future. I've had nigh on 20 bikes now and this is the best all rounder by far, a proper continent crossing bit of kit. Bad point, the OE luggage, don't bother with it and fit aftermarket is what most owners would agree on.

I purchased a Crossrunner purely on the back of a spin on a mates bike.

Lowish seat, highish pegs like a sports bike, high bars like a supermoto/adv bike doesn't work for all but I find it a day long comfortable ride that is highly entertaining & characterful engine with good handling pretty much everywhere.
The clutch/gearbox is perfect, snicks into first without so much as a thunk from stone cold.

Many think they are fug ugly, looks do grow on you - rather surprising, is how many comment on how good looking it is....!
The stock screen is comfortable up to 70 ish, quiet & buffet free at all reslistic speeds, screen extender brackets help at motorway speeds.

New prices plummet, which makes them a great value allrounder s/h

The vtec motor is flexible, has plenty of oomph but a little thirsty.

Mine was the first bike I've ever bought as a 'I've gotta have one of them' impulse purchases.
The intention was to keep it a year & move on, now I'm not so sure.

It kind of takes the best bits of each of my three other bikes & rolls them into one package.

It's hard to compare it to a Vara which are taller, heavier (top heavy), softer and torquier in comparison.

Great feedback lads, I'm off to have a nosey to a local honda dealer Saturday

Well, weather was'nt great, so I had a seat on both, cross runner fits like a glove the tourer I'm on my tip toes.......almost £4,000 price difference, I'll have a run on both

Interesting to see how the two compare.
Are you looking at new or used?

I can't say for the 'tourer but the 'runner suffers from monumental depreciation (I bought a 6k mile, year old bike with luggage & plenty of extras, just serviced, new tyres etc etc for 'nicely' under 6k ) - as the bike stood it'd be over 5k depreciation in 15 months

Ive rode the crossrunner. Yes it aint pretty hut who cares, you will grow to love it. That engine is ( although not new ) a peach !!

Its got savage great handling, you can cane it on b roads, flat out, planted. Although riding it v hard will gobble up the juice. If i bought one i wouldnt be disappointed. Even in the wet, it inspires confidence.

The crosstourer is a different bike alteogher. I aint ridden one, but have rode a vfr1200f a few times - same engine. Its got to be one of the best engines on the road, its refined, blisteringly quick but heavy on juice. I dont think honda were thinking when they out it in the crosstouer, they shoukd have waited and put the engine into a lighter traillie to go up against the ktm 1190 adventure imo. The xtourer is tall ish but Ive never felt the urge to ride one, altough I had anticpated it greatly before its launch. I then went and botu a 1200 tenere. Go figure.

For me, the do it all, no fuss is the xrunner. Great value as mentioned above and you'll pick up one with some goodies cheap enough.
