Crossbones

No you fucking wouldn't! You'd " umm" and "err"..... For about three weeks.....then declare undying love for the old snotter.....realising, like Dave, your quest for another bike is as long as it is pointless........:D

oh yes you better believe that it is coming as i am saving madly for maybe a cheap sportster /or an older triumph or a series land rover cant decide at the moment and may not have decided by next year

You're thinking of buying a bike with suspension from the 1930s and also willing to pay over the odds for it:blast

Would you buy a car with cable operated drum brakes for that "retro feel" and pay an extra 25% for the privilege? I guess not.

Nah, sorry I just don't get it, Harley marketing really have excelled themselves by convincing punters to part with hard earned for something that belongs in a museum.

I have a Crossbones.

It rides just fine; suspension is OK and it gets along quite nicely. No drama. Footboards will touch down if you hack round a corner but so did my Guzzi California Mk 1, so what.

Engine is really nice, well behaved, predictable. Quite relaxing, really.

I agree with those that say flatter bars are better. I changed to the full 1.25" beach bars and found the comfortable but made the bike a bitch to turn point to point. The "narrow" 1" beach bars are easier but look almost too small on the bike. I'm now back to a custom made mini-ape which is OK.

They are moderately rare. Customisers buy them and rework them to look like older, vintage models.

If you want one, like the one you've seen and feel you can commit to it, do it. If you have any 2nd thoughts, take your time and think it through.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Nah, sorry I just don't get it....

Your problem is you think a bike needs to be fine-handling, reliable, smooth etc to be a " good" bike.... I disagree. There's fun to be had making an evil handling, under braked, underpowered piece of junk move faster than it was ever envisaged.....:P

Tell me about it... I got mine up to 75mph the other day...

Indeed, they are hilariously fucking stupid machines, but if you have the time and patience.

It can be very rewarding and fucking hilarious when you go up the inside of a so called sports bike with everything dragging on the tarmac.

Is that the point it goes all "loose"..and "weavy" ? I came up the A449 fairly rapidly the other day.....and I needed both lanes.... :)

actually, in reality mine doesn't do that until an indicated 90mph....it will cruise at 75-80 (indicated) all day....on a straight road the other day I managed to get an indicated 100. . ( private road of course) but it was all getting a little strange......

I have no idea what speed I was doing....if you think I'm gonna look down at the speedo, when I need every ounce of concentration to keep it roughly on my side of the dual track, then you are mistaken....but the old S&S lump was flat out.....:augie

...but...doesn't it make you feel "alive"..?

There is certainly a kind of "fun" to be had in all this madness.

I tried to race someone in a Vauxhall Corsa the other day and felt like Dick Van Dyke in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang just at the point it gets airborne and sticks its little wings out.

It was either a small bump in the road or a gust of wind getting behind the batwing fairing. :D

If you want a bike that can be ridden in a spirited fashion then HD make a few, and they can be genuinely fast if you spend quite reasonable amounts of money in the right places.

My glide is plenty quick enough, handles well enough to keep things 'interesting'. I like that it requires a level of concentration and skill to ride well.

I also like that it seems to really irritate some people
