Crossthread - Helicoil fix - SW19

I managed to over-tighten a bolt, whilst attaching the Givi plate, for a topbox on my 1200 GS. The threads are now crossed.

Anyone know where I can have this re-drilled and a helicoil put in?

Anywhere in SW London would be great.

anyhow, i already altered my post as i didn't completely understand what had occurred.

Yes, I noticed you changed your original twat mode post too (twice) , after I'd sent mine.

PS: You must have understood because you had quoted the "cross threaded" part initially.

and yes i did change my post, because i went back and reread the OP where what had occurred was a bit ambiguous what with an "overtightened" bolt being described also as "cross threaded".

i generally find overtightening results in threads being stripped wholesale, as opposed to a bit missing/distorted which is often easily made useable by retappping.

i removed the bit about you having seen it, because i felt it was a bit cockish. i'll leave that to you.

OP stated 'cross threaded' and you quoted it back. All the info required in just two words.

You don't seem to know whether you're coming or going but it's great that you can back pedal AND use abuse at the same time...why ,you little multi-tasker!

And you are quite correct, I over tightened the bolt and stripped the thread (didn't "cross" 'em). Oops....this is why I work with numbers, not exactly technically or mechanically minded.

Thanks for the help though..... result = helicoil....but where? Steptoe, can you do this?
