Hi Folks

Can anyone recomend which currency to take to Morocco. I know the official currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD), just wondering if people have used dollars or euros.....

Cheers

Rich

ATM's the way to go it's a modern world.

Agree take pounds as backup, if you have Euro's or will have a use for them at a later date i'd take a few.

As for dollars... Greg and I thought dollars would buy us out of situations so took a stash of small denomination notes spread around varoius pockets and documents only to discover the 'Great Green Back' impresses no one in Morocco.

Have agood trip and despite it's reputation I really recomend going left out off Ceuta and heading up the Riff Mountains to Katma and then dropping down to Fez... wild country

I agree with Wreford there, but don't stop to buy any 'goodies' on the road around Ketama.

That'll be the sheep's heads, rocks and lizards then? :D

... and a handful of Euros for the Spanish enclaves - inevitably the time you spend waiting for return ferries etc will most likely be in a Spanish enclave, i.e. a bit of Morocco they nicked and failed to return...! So, Euros are useful there.

Enjoy the trip!
