There is a thread over on ADv rider where a nice chap has agreed to fab some custom stems for airheads. The idea is that you can then fit either wp4860 or marzocchi 50mm extremes to a bmw and keep the bmw rake and trail (I'm not technical so you may want to read up to be sure about this - my disclaimer). Basically... you can stick on a new/used but newer and hopefully better working from fork and not hit your tank with them... whole keeping the geometry the same. If anyone is commited and wants a set fabricated (cost is 525 US dollars) let me know and I'll sort out the rest... or post up on the thread and I'll add you to the list.

Thanks for looking...

I would hope for that money you would get a complete upper and lower yoke or triple clamp with a stem to fit the airhead headstock.

Boxer Supplies in Holland also supply them although a bit more expensive and you'd have to check the offset.

The offset is the crucial dimension. You could use standard KTM yokes and either fit a spacer or a different stem but the offset is so small the forks will hit the tank and you would have to modify the steering stop to get it through an MOT.

Bollix! Yes price includes the fabrication of custom yokes, powder coated, stem turned down (1mm I think) to fit bmw bearings and all press fitted. The advrider link has more details or try here. Basically, this lets you fit wp4860 or 50mm extreme forks as a plug and play setup.

Good point chasf... yes these are designed so that you should have no tank/fork interference issues. The link above has more information than I'll even know... so if you are interested please read on.

I bought one of Guys six pot adaptors for my GS in another ADV group buy, and the quality was top class .

Polishing anodising, fasteners, etc, were all spot on, unlike most of the other suppliers who supply their product straight of the mill, without any fasterers, etc.

I exclude Toaster Tan from this, their G/S top yoke is a work of art, but it is twice the cost of the unfinished ,bare San Jose BMW yoke.

I have one of those on my GS. More expensive, yes, but also more substantial with a 3 pinch bolts for the stanchions... and no import tax ;)
Adjustment reverts to a g/s system.

The offset is per BMW. They are for 50mm forks with adapter collets(?) to use KTM USD's.

If anyone is interested in one of these yokes with stem there will also be no import tax as my father will bring them in after being posted to canada. :beerjug:
