Cut and paste to an e-mail.

Yes, I know it's probably a numpty question but I don't know how to cut and paste a website page to an e-mail.
I left-click and highlight the www address, curser over the text, right click then select 'copy'.
Then I open up my e-mail page, start to write the e-mail, right click to download the link via 'paste', but the dropdowns that appear don't have anything like this, what am I doing wrong, please?

i don't know why that's not working. but in the meantime try...

highlight target, Control+C to copy, Control+V to paste.
