Anyone know of any different cylinder guards from the Touratech ones??

I've read bad things about them and they're bloody expensive for what they are...but I parked up on a slight slope tonight and got off the bike.......all looked fine so i took off my lid and gloves and poped them in the Givi......but when i pushed the catch to close the box, the bike gently rolled forwards off the side stand and toppled over, right onto a curb stone ARSE!!!!!!!! :p1zzed:

Result...one badly scratched protection bar, one broken spark plug plastic cover and small scratch on the head........could have been a lot worse i spose without the bars in place but this is the second zero speed drop in a fortnight and i'm pissed off with it......gotta get some protection on there!

If Vern takes his prototypes further I'll prolly have a pair of those, but has anyone got any experience of any others?

Cheers

Bill

STANTON

check out threads on advrider re problems fitting them. But I am goin got order some. they seem to be the ONLY ones that do the job. They are expensive, but if you plan to drop the bike as I do then its money well spent

Look at his web page, quality plus service level. for me Its an easy decision because the OEM parts arent worth shit

Saw that Bob.......it was the price that deterred me.....200 dollars for a couple of bits of ally casting....

Mind you, with the exchange rate i suppose it's not too bad.

cheers.

they are expensive, but they seem to 1 protect the bike for minor spills and 2 spread the load over the head for slightly more flamboyant incidents. Id think Id rather pay a lot for something that worked then much less for something that doesn´t.

having said that I have the bwm crappy plastic things, so sont listen to me

How is the dollar doing at the moment, and when’s mikebelch’s next shopping trip?

… no forget I even mentioned it, I can’t afford them, I don’t want them, I must not spend more money on toys. I mustn’t, I mustn’t, I mustn’t …

Why not just get H&B bars?

I've already got the BWM OE bars...they did prevent any damage when I dropped her the first time on ice when i was trying to pull her up onto the centre stand, but this time, sod's law intervened and she went down right on a kerb stone.......

No bars short of a full cage would have prevented the damage, and that's what it seems cylinder head protectors are, albeit on a small localised scale.....

Ouch! Well if you have to get a new pair you may as well get the best:rolleyes:
The Stanton's seem pretty good for protection but there has been a question or two raised on the fitting of them recently.:(

'Course, you could always try keeping the 'kin thing rubber side down;)
