I recently posted thread avbout this but it seems to have disappeared. Basically I was looking at a bike with what appeared to be an earth strap on the cylinder head. Now that the bike is mine I've been able to look a bit closer and it is a "Nology-Hot Wire" http://www.hotwires.com/hot.html Mystery solved.Anyone heard of these?

It's also got an on/off tap for the spark plug electricity .

So, it's a high performance ignition system for use in top fuel dragsters, which is also sold to owners of airheads (that looks like an airhead exhaust to me, could be wrong)

Reading the website, the idea looks interesting, but plonking a capacitor across the spark gap is going to delay the spark and affect the timing. This may or may not be compensated for by the more powerful spark. I guess that this could be adjusted with timing, but I would think that you would then be less flexible with fuel choice and variations in altitude, e.g. when touring.

I think it's an interesting idea, but I'd want to see some serious data before I bothered trying to fit one. I'd be tempted to put on a set of standard leads and bung the hotwires on fleabay

I think I'll leave well alone for now, aspecially if I might have to adjust timing to get back to standard. I'd also be worried about standard plug getting fried with this system. This isn't the sort of mod I'd have done myself as I think it is just another thing that can go wrong. If I was on a ride in some far flung place or even going off for a week or two I'd rather have things as standard so if it goes wrong I can easily diagnose it and get part fedexed out from friendly BM supplies people.
