Well it finally happened, bike out into the drive ready to go for a run. Turned round to shut the garage door and hear the bike fall over on its side.

Been debating whether to get the cylinder head guards for weeks, horse - door - bolted. Just a few scratches but bugger , bugger.....:(

Order now in for a pair, GET THEM NOW..............:tears :tears

where did you get replacement?
How much?

Had an off last week, was looking at the next turn and not the one I was entering, ran out of road, front wheel hit dirt, lucky for me I went down straight away on right side, just before colliding with a concrete retaining wall holding up the mountain.....

Surprised that only damage to bike was the head cover and few scratches on the engine bars........Me, a few bumps and bruises....and few new nick names...teeheeee

Cylinder head cover is about £140 BMW crash bars can be brought separate about £120.

Not sure if you fella's had the BMW bars but if so, i don't think there very good they still allow the cylinder to touch down. TT are the daddies.

I feel your pain!!

Well mcinlb, I had EXACTLY the same thing happen to mine!! I had just arrived home, parked in the driveway, jumped off to open the garage door, was walking back to the bike and watched it roll, very slowly, forward off the side stand and crumple :(

I did the exact same park-up-open-door routine for 5 years with my 650 but clearly theres a few more KGs on the 12 :(

Anyway, I had JUST fitted the SW Motech bars and they did a good job of protecting most of the bike but the cylinder heads got a few scrapes so I fitted TT cylinder head guards which just about squeeze in under the SW bars.

(BTW I had owned the bike for 7 days at this stage. Gutted.)

Cylinder head guards

Not seen the BMW ones yet, on the TT ones. Are they in their equipment brochure? :nenau

I did the same thing a few weeks ago with my Honda CB1300 on our slopping drive. Bike wasn't too bad didn't do the wife's Skoda a lot of good though!!!

Maybe the side stand is slightly too long on the LC as there are a few reports of them having a little "nap" on the slightest of slopes.

I make sure I always park mine in 1st gear, regardless of incline.:rob

Yes, I had this problem with mine, within one week of getting the bike! I wouldn't mind, but the "slope" on our drive is barely perceptable. So I now always park in first gear and always face up any slope!!

BTW, I have noticed that the bike is harder to push when in 1st gear and clutch lever fully pulled in, than it is when the bike is in neutral

Any photos of the different cylinder head covers available on your bikes chaps?

I have the Touratech ones on mine

Probably the result of your newfangled wet clutch me thinks

Cool looking steed Nutty, so the TT covers do fit okay with the standard GS engine bars, I presume that you have to remove the bars to fit the covers?

Bars and covers?
It's like wearing two pairs of underpants...........:augie
