i want to spray my cylinder heads black, i just want to ask has anyone done this, if so can they recommend a good vht spray that works. of course i know i have to use a high temp paint, but can anyone recommend a good paint, that actually works, and will stay on for more than a few weeks.

I think you'll find it almost impossible to find a paint that'll reliably stick to the existing powder coating. The heads cop for a lot of wear and tear due to spray / airborne particles etc - I'd think that any paint would soon look very tatty.

If you want a decent job, you'd have to take the heads off, strip the existing coating and get them vapour blasted and powder coated. Whether this is worth it to you (probably not) is your call :augie

I've had good results with Sperex HT paint - not on a BMW but on an ancient iron-headed old Panther. It runs much hotter than the GS, but the paint has stayed in place for years. On the Panther I sprayed the Sperex onto bare metal, so don't know how well it will stick to the BMW paint
