Anyone know what paint to use on The actual cylinder heads mine are black. I have tried heat resistant to 650 deg with no primer as per instructions but it won't key onto metal. Also how do you cure paint I.e leave to dry the start engine ?

do you mean cyl heads or rocker covers? cause i would like to paint a spare set of rockercovers that i have.problem is if they are magnesium they cant be powder coated according to tripple s.so im now trying to find out what there made of or just paint them.

The BMW air cooled cylinder heads get hot very quickly, the heat resistent paint needs heat to cure, but gradual heat!
Make sure the heads themselves are perfectly clean (brake cleaner possibly), start the engine to dry it, then allow to cool until just warm, spray the heat resistent paint on, allow to flash off i.e. 15 minutes, then start the engine, but DO NOT allow to get too hot probably no more than 30 seconds, repeat this when the engine has cooled again. Try not to get it too hot for the first few times, hope this helps, best of luck!:thumb

Strange you was told that ! Because I've had 2 sets powder coated in the past with no issues.
