Flashman, don't worry about it, I've got Tournaces on as well. Ordered some TKC80s today but they won't be here in time. All the roads should be road tyre friendly with the last leg (Llanwddyn to Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant and beyond) being the exception.
We can just take the 'road' back to Bala from Lake Vyrnwy.

It's rained around here for the last 24hrs so it's probably for the best.

Sunday is the only day I can make it sorry. Do you know where Rhug Organic Farm is on the A5? [just before the Bala turning]. Could meet there, not bothered about time. 10.30am ish?

Mouse, sorry can't do Saturday but there will be other opportunities. I'm determined to get the most out of the GS and explore the local area hence the TKC80s. Will be buying cylinder head guards and decent boots next

No problem, when you've got your TKCs lets plan a gentle green laning day sometime :)

Just got a Metzler Karoo on my rear wheel - even knobblier than the TKC :D Bit skittish on tarmac in the wet though!

To my great surprise my TKC80s arrived today and they're being fitted tomorrow. Can't wait to see how they perform off-road compared to Tourances.

Flashman and Captain Dangerous, will you be joining us?

Weather looking very promising.

Hi!

I can't find a road from Llanarmon to Llandrillo on my map, (1:400 000) so I guess it is not suitable for my beltdriven BMW Scarver or my boyfriend Knut's K100RS.
But now I know who to ask to help us to find roads in the North of Wales for our bikes!
You see; I'm making planes for next summer, and I think I'll manage to persuade Knut to go to Wales. He has been in that area before, I have'nt.

Have fun, guys!
And post pics here for me!

:) Liv.

hiya muddy , room for one more ? on road or off me no care :)

mines a b&w dakar ,ill be there at 10.30 maybe even partaking of a bacon sarnie if i can afford it

regards mike

Another local..

Hi Guys..
I am another local for your list.. I am based in Buckley at present.

If you spotted a manderin 1150gs in and about denbigh, ruthin etc, its likly to be mine. I see the odd 1100 and 1200, but not that many 1150;s..

I know a few tracks but never attempted them on the 1150, only on quads in the past.

The old north wales plod have recently started chasing down illegal off road riders, particularly around the wayfearers and llangollen, so ensure your roads are legal or you have land owner permission.
Saw some bikes being confiscated today by North Wales finest just up from the horshoe. Dont know what the reason was. But take care folks..

John

Hi Guy's

Just been brows'n the Forum (as you do) look forward to seeing some Photo's of your wee run out at the weekend.

Tim I stayed in Betsw y Coed recentely on the other love of my life a walking trip where we did the Snowdon Horse Shoe, anyway just to say it was my first time in N Wales and loved it the village was really nice look forward to going back sometime soon on the bike pity about the Traffic Talliban being your local top Cop though on the Sunday morning I saw there Air Support Unit was very active in that area.

ENJOY the RUN OUT :thumb

Apologies

How does this sound:

Rhos-y-gwaliau, Bala to
Lake Vyrnwy
Llanymawddwy
Dinas Mawddwy
Aberangell
Through Dyfi Forest to
Aberllefenni
Machynlleth then back up to
Mallwyd
Llangadfan
Pont Llogel
Llanwddyn, Lake Vyrnwy (option to go home or face some serious off-road)
Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant
Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog
Glyndyfrdwy (A5)

Could always call it a day in Machynlleth and take shortest route home..

Distances:

Rhos-y-gwaliau to Lake Vyrnwy = 8.75 miles
Vyrnwy to Machynlleth = 28 miles
Machynlleth to Glyndyfrdwy = 51 miles

My apologies for the Username, it seems out of place here but is O.K. in an international forum.

Love the route, I can only remember potions of it, I was born and dragged up in that region Trallwynng (Welshpool) rode those routes plus the hills on a variety of DT175,s and "street legal" Montesa Cappra mx,s a dry cell battery in the air box for lights?

Now Johannesburg based for 2 decades, at least the big black beast 99 1150 does not get too wet or muddy, just dry and dusty.

Flashman may have a couple of photos. Unfortunately we didn't get to the off-road bits [with enough fuel]. Next time I propose to go straight for the dirt, possibly Sunday 23rd?

Yellow GS

Muddy said:
Flashman, one of the GS's I saw in Ruthin was yellow so I guess there's even more of us.

I don't know if anyone's going to take the lead and organise something here but I'm available on Sunday (16th).

Mouse, where are you going with the TRF?

Could of been me and a mate on a blue and white, quite often meet there.

Used to be a member of the NW TRF, ridden most of the lanes in North and Mid Wales.

I could show you a couple you would never get a GS across, used to struggle like hell with an RMX250 and KDX200!!

Did the "road" from Llanarmon to Cynwyd this morning. Only thought afterwards if this is a legal road. There were a few walkers and mountain bikers on the road but they soon scattered out of the way when I blasted my horn. :D
Its a bit rough in places but thanks to all the rain the water has washed the mud away and allowed my well worn tourance some grip.
I did wonder a couple of times how deep the water was going to get but apart from one section it was quite mild.
Once again thanks to this site for pointing it out. :thumb
