Hi there.

I'm off to the Brno MotoGp in August with my wife. We're flying to Prague and alnd at 3.30pm. I was planning to pre-book a bus ticket from Prague for about 6.00pm but I have been informed that you can no longer book online. Does anyone know any different? I have aso been told that the motorway from Prague to Brno is choc-a-block with lorries due to some border/cargo restrictions being lifted.

I went last year with my Dad and the bus journey was a doddle, we pre-booked, caught the bus and had a dead easy journey.

I was also considering hiring a car and just driving ourselves from Prague airport to the hotel in Brno - its ony £55 and the hotel has loads of parking. Does this sound a viable alternative?

Any help appreciated.

Hiring a car sounds easier, but looking at the circuit it doesn't look like theres alot of access so may be a nightmare to get in and out of, we're camping about 8kms away and push biking into the circuit, going for a week in a motorhome from Germany, well looking forward to it:D

We'd only drive to the hotel and then leave the car there. They run free buses to the track every 30mins or so from the city centre in Brno - parking at the track is a nightmare!

Been to the GP 3 times and it`s just superb. Don`t know if I`ll be riding this year as a bit pushed for time so I`ll probably be flying into Prague, hiring a car and driving to Brno. Do fancy the train though because we`ll be in Prague at around 9-30 so may well go for that.

The Prague/Brno m/way is busy but the problem is when you get back into Prague. The trucks just queue right back because the Prague ring road is so bloody awful. I`ve driven before and you can skirt the city and approach the airport from another direction so get a good map.

If you have the time you have to visit Kutna Hora. The church of bones is there (as per the long way round) and the town is unbelievable, very medieval and superb to visit. Also, if you have time stay off the motorway and drive though the countryside which is very pretty. It will take you more time but it`s worth it. There are also really nice local restaurants which sell proper local food and are cheap. No English though so brush up on the Deutsch!! :)

Beware the drink driving though. I got bagged on the bike last year on Saturday morning and was clear but the fine is around 1000 euro:eek:

I`ll be at the Grand in the centre of town where the action is if you fancy a beer.

:beerjug:

How did it go?

What hotels did you use? How much and how good?

I always cop free accomm with friends in Brno but always like to hear of decent hotels and b&b's... :)
