Can any of you fine people out there give me some guidance on
1) use of the Touratech road-book and QV 3.0 software
2) suitability and quality of the Dainese "safety jacket next" 2003 model
3) use of the Touratech Nav Assist 05
4) Scott or Oakley and which model and lens?
5) where to get "dzus" type fasteners that have a bolt thread as opposed to the normal groove in 5 and 6mm?

Many thanks,
Chris

dzus

chris m and p do the dzu type fastenings mainly a d'ring type but great for quick release ... also try busters ...

Chris...I'd be inclined to post this on the Advrider site as well under their Toys and equipment forum......they have a much bigger pool of knowledge over there and I'm sure someone like Ricardo would be able to answer several of your questions.

DZUS Fasteners

Chris,

I once did a load of contract work for DZUS at the Farnham Head Office. Good bunch of people, and I would have thought they would help you out if you let them know what it's for.

I used to turn up every day on the BMW bike, and I understand that some of them were into motorcycling as well.

I thought you were using the BMW Rally 2 jacket ??

Good luck on the race. Was planning to be there to see you guys off but can't get a hotel 100 Kms around CMF.

These things are used on aircraft. Transair pilot supplies www.transair.co.uk has more in their paper catalogue than on-line (they certainly used to supplythem).

The Dainese stuff is body armour you wear under a jacket. I wore something similar on the Morocco trip earlier this year, made me feel more "secure" for want of a better word.

Chris

I have the Touratech road-book and QV 3.0 software and use it off and on but don't know if I know it well enough to help with the Dakar.

Let me know what you need help with and I'll do whatever I can.

Good luck Chris,

If you manage to blag a "Mini DV" palmcorder to record your P-D be sure to give me a call if & when you need any editing and post production.

Pete

Thanks Bob I'll call you.
Pete I've left you a message.
Waterhouse I'll try Transair this morning.
Yes Mike the Rally 2 jacket with the armour removed and the Dainese armour underneath, once I get some positive feedback.
Roy Dzus had promised bolts with a d-ring hand release months ago (no dull comments Hogg/Bakes/ANO please) but now say no supplies available.
Thanks Slimbo but they must have a threaded bolt as opposed to a quarter turn lock.
Good idea Fanum.

Chris,

Don't know if this will be of help to you, but I've encountered the following 2 Companies through work in the past. Both specialise in fasteners including 'Dzus type' and may be able to help. Have to say that a quick release screw type fastener seems unusual.

From my diary (hope phone number still ok):

Specialty Fasteners
www.specialty-fasteners.co.uk

Zygology Ltd

Good Luck!
