Hi , 2003 Dakar , clamp nut removed , calliper removed, but removing the axel .......it seems awfully tight to get out ....have turned it to about half way out ....but stopped as it just does not feel right and don't want to damage it .......is this common ? Am I doing something wrong ?... Ta for any advice ,:bow

IIRC it should just slide right out once you take the weight of wheel off it.

If you've got it half way I guess that is enough to knock the wheel space out, which should give you more wriggle room for the axle.

Mine was 2001 Dakar without ABS so I don't know if there is any ABS stuff in the way that you need to move.

Hi ta,no...no ABS stuff . It's threaded on the near side .....so I am unscrewing it from the offside ..... It has reached the point of being probably past the first fork but still in the 1st spacer .. So no wriggle room yet .... Is it threaded further, or can I try drifting it now ?.. Weight is off the front wheel via a few sandbags on the tail! Much obliged !
