Hi There,

My Fiancée is currently looking to buy an 2006 F650GS Dakar. The bike at the dealership she is thinking of buying currently has a low screen on it and she did not like the wind buffeting when she was travelling along. I have been reading the FAQ about higher screens over here http://faq.f650.com/GSFAQs/AftermarketWindshields.htm#BMW Tall Screen and it seems like the "Dakar screen" should be higher anyway. Was/Is the dakar screen standard on the Dakar or was it an optional extra?
Is it available in Clear rather than black? Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Jimmy.

Hi Jimmy,
my 06 Dakar came standard with the higher black screen. However, I found that even it was quite windy around the head so bought a wunderlich aftermarket screen, which was way better.

Im pretty sure that the Dakar screen OE came in black only. BUT. These screens unless I am on another planet are produced by PUIG. I have a standard GS and wanted the same shape but in clear, which i got from germany via ebay. Alot cheaper than the 'BMW' one. For me, being a shorty, i find it great.

PUIG do both black and clear.

Looks like this;

The standard dark screen on my 07 Dakar is made by the Italian company Da Lio. Their logo is on the lower right of the screen, beside what could be the part number. Does not appear to be possible to buy direct from Da Lio. Their "production" web page shows the twin spark Dakar.
