He was rather good wasn't he, except we didn't realise it at the time. 🤣

Yes the old comedians show …

Irishman buys a metal detector, gets 60 feet down digging before he realises he’s got steel toecaps on his boots.

It would be remiss of us if we failed to mention the friendly, patient, cooperative assistance given to our Group by Triumph Dealer MOTORS THOMAS G, of Ettenhoven, Belgium, when we rolled up on their doorstep with a wounded Tiger 660 and a broken clutch cable.

Motors Thomas staff very kindly checked their stock for a replacement, checked existing stock for possible alternates, and ultimately sold us a cable taken directly off of one of their showroom bikes. All the while happily sharing their air con, cool drinks, smart showroom, with six very hot and sweaty bikers on one of the first days of 2026's June Heatwave. Excellent service and well worth calling in for Triumph/Kawasaki needs if near Antwerp.

Many Thanks to all at Motors Thomas! :beerjug: :thumb2

The Belgian Highway Police were also remarkably helpful and friendly, patiently providing a temporarily closed lane on the Bruge/Antwerp motorway whilst a cunning temporary fix was installed on the 660 on the hard shoulder by the miracle of Allen keys & Leatherman. They said unless we fixxed it quickly they'd be obliged to call a tow-truck, but patiently gave us the safety and time to have three attempts to insert a replacement cable inner, which proved succesful, and served for rest of trip!

Yes indeed, I’d like to think British main dealers would do likewise for a semi stranded foreign Oik too…….

Not so sure they would …..

Thanks for the reminder! I need to go on their FB/IG page and thank them again for their willingness to help me out. And to top it all, a cable and and labour for a removal (from the donor bike) and fitting (for the replacement when they got it) was a miserly 72 Euros.

Outstanding service!

As for the cops, I think we can thank Jerry for running interface - the woman cop was very cute (so I'm told, I was the one fitting the temp cable...) so I don't think Jerry thought it an onerous task at all :D
