My 100GS rebuild (see separate thread) was copming along quite nicely until yesterday when I tried to strip the forks to replace the seals.

Failed at the first hurdle - trying to unscrew damper retaining bolt in botton of fork leg.

Have tried heat, whacking it and Wd40 and applied enough force to almost but not quite yet muller the inner part of the allen head (it's more 12 sided now than 6).

Any tips?

Find an oversize torx adaptor and tap/bash it into the allen key hexagon. Apply heat to the leg with a hot air gun and hopefully undo. Best of luck.

tried the "leaving it overnight" approach, eg repeated heat, Wd etc next day and with a sudden crack it came free

not much going on inside those forks, is there?!
