Dashboard light

My son has just bought a very nice 2006 DRZ....he has his bike test booked for the end of June so fingers crossed...

Anyway, a question....
Is the speedo meant to be lit up ?, I'm guessing there is a light out but just thought I'd check with you folks before I attempt taking it to bits...

Maybe I phrased the question badly so I'll try again...

Is the DRZ 400 SM speedo meant to have a back-light so it can be seen in the dark...because it does not have one.

I have spoken to one dealer who said he does not know but thinks not...and another dealer who says yes it should have but its a sealed unit

I've looked on the 2006 DRZ-SM parts fiche and it only shows the instrumment cluster as a complete unit.
But to get UK/Euro road type approval, the bikes clocks must be illuminated, so I would imagine there will be a lamp or even LED in the instrument cluster somewhere, and if you can get the unit off and take the back off, it won't be too difficult to find.

I suspected that would be the case but just wanted it confirmed....thanks guys .

When the bike comes back from having its 33bhp restrictor fitted I'll get the thing off and have a look at it...
