Data plan + SIM for iPad

I'll be coming over to the UK next week for 5 days.

Now I was thinking of buying a micro sim + prepaid data plan from a local phone store to have e-mail and internet access on my ipad without roaming cost.

I see this for example.

Is that a good idea? Where do I purchase it? Are they available from local phone stores and ready to use?

Best thing would be to pop into the store and ask.
They do sometimes forget to mention the exact term for the sims.
Carphone Warehouse do all cell providers so they may be the best shop to enquire.

Buy one from ebay, which is what I've done every 3 months since I got my ipad. You can either buy a regular size one for £7.49 and snip it to size with a pair of scissors which takes all of a minute, this is what I do, I have a template I can email you which will make it a doddle.

Alternatively you can buy a readycut microsim for £9.35. The prices give you 3Gb of data and are valid for 3 months. Way, way cheaper than anything the phone companies are offering.

Ah, do you have anyone you know or are staying with who could receive it for you? Where are you going to be, if you're around London I could receive it and meet up with you. I just put a new one in my ipad about 4 days ago, could just hand you that one and order myself a new one, been at home so it's been on wifi all the time, doubt if I've used more than a meg of the 3Gb allowance so far.

I have a Three sim , there is a workround where u can get unlimited data usage , within reason, fair use for £5.00 a month ,via top up in MY 3.
Feel free to PM me for instructions, i have two running with them , 1 ipad and a 3g mifi dongle and it never costs more than £5.00 per month for general browsing , i player ocassional use. Email and every so often a film.
