So I have had my 800gs for 7 months and not yet got over the channel:blast. I have promised myself that a one day trip to France must be done in 2009 and it may wet my appetite for a longer trip in 2010.

Rather than get off the train and just turn right could anyone recomend a fine route - 4/5 hours riding, lunch, and return to make me grin. I have a car style Garmin 310 which I can only use in the dry and I am not sure I can download a route so the good old map would be good.

Hope you can help a nervous first timer to riding on the wrong side of the road.:beerjug:

Easy peasy.

This is one I put together for a bunch of bods from UKGSer.

When do you plan on going, only because it is now getting dark around half four.... If I were you I would aim to catch an earlyish train. It's not a huge distance round but, if you are nervous, riding around in the dark may not help too much.

If you are nervous about going I will go with you.

Try a little amble across the Somme region. Plenty of nice back roads with very little traffic to complicate matters for you. The rolling countryside is superb in my opinion. Maybe Dover Calais and return via Bolougne. A map will do nicely and theres plenty of places to dine. Hope this helps. :)

Hi Johnnyboy,

You can take advantage of the current anniversary offer from the chunnel people if you just fancy a day trip. Physiojo and I are going on 3 December 7:50am crossing if you fancy/are able to join us. It will be a gentle bimble as Jo is on an f650 :hide. Only planning to do about 4 or 5 hours the rest will be shopping :blast and dining:beerjug:.

PM me if you want to join us. No obligation to stay with us all day.

Regards,

Path.

Hi Path

Thanks for the offer :thumb but sods law - I am on duty all next week so I will need to find someone to cover me at work which could be a challenge. I'll let you know tomorrow.
