De Cat Headers ??

This has been a very interesting forum posting, but going back to the first post, has anyone tried the De Cat Headers from Sandy Bike Spares, only £179.99 post free. Seem too good to be be true, considering the price of the Remus version.

Thinking or getting some at that price, stainless steel aswell

Sandy bike spares headers

I've ordered the sandy headers and will fit them next week. Owning a bike shop i find Some companies, just some can overcharge for products, when there are equivalent products out there cheaper. Not always the case but the odd bargain is still available I'm sure. Judging by their feedback it's worth going for and the headers haven't been knocked up in a shed by a "mate" I'll post my findings next week nigel.

Look forward to hearing your experiences;)

I know they'll probably be a thread somewhere on here about this but.........

De Cat Headers !! are they worth it, there are some on Fleabay at moment for about £180 new. The ad's say "increase bhp / fuel economy / increase your length" etc etc, but......are they a worth while mod..so fellow tossers whats your opinion(s).

(alright so they would'nt increase your length !)....

i have fit the sandy shite de cat .....i dont moan but there were sh=t...the welds and the alinement

Sgt Bilco has a nice header :drool very nice cant think of the name though

Contacted a guy who bought the Sandy Headers from Ebay, this is his reply..

"I was not happy with how lumpy my GS was running, having had a 1150 in the past I knew it should be better. Started with a K&N which made it sound better but didn't smooth it out any. Then added a Akrapovich end can which gave a slight improvement but still not anything like it should be, at this point had only one option left and that's the headers and I must say they have transformed the bike, throttle response is instant and it's as smooth as silk. The headers came the following day and at about half the price of the Remus pipes I can say I'm delighted with them. Hope this helps, regards, Chris"

Can't wait to get mine now!!

Will you fit them for Thursday ?

It may be worth waiting till after Thursday, before you fit them. Then you can compare both bikes, when you ride mine with the Remus header fitted, not forgetting the Givi screen and winglets...

Good thinking Nigel, looking forward to finally seeing how a gs should ride.

Been thinking of de-catting mine, whether it be by de-catting original of new pipes, if it was new pipes whats the opinion on having a balance pipe or not?

I was thinking of going for a set of these from Sandy Bike Spares but now I'm not so sure but there again the next post says that they were spot on. What is a tosser to do??:nenau

Well if it's any consolation I'm a picky bugger so wait till I put mine on and test them. I don't pull any punches on reviews. Have a look at my gs review on YouTube. I'm "roadcraftmidlands"

Received sandy bike headers. Not bad quality but there's a grinder scuff on exhaust where it meets manifold due to what must be rushed weld grinding finishing. Fitted perfectly with no trouble. Bike runs a little sweeter and sounds a little nicer. Steady throttle hunting when warm is still there to a degree but better than with the cat exhaust fitted. Ordered a boosterplug today from boosterplugdotcom after reading glowing reviews (once I've got my teeth into something I won't give up until all avenues have been exhausted).

Must say, for a standard BMW, I'd expect not to have to sort it out myself so im very disappointed in BMW. Meeting with advanced biker today and we're swapping bikes, very kind of him to offer.

If after all this, the bike still hunts, I'll sell it and drag my fazer1000 back out the garage (I've purposely hung onto it just in case) and will never buy a BMW again.

Well that's it, I've had enough of the rough, lumpy, jerky engine of the BMW r1200 gs and it's up for sale. I'm gonna stick to my Japanese bikes from now on. Thanks to everyone for their help and advice. Take care.

+1:thumb

I have to agree the booster plug IMHO is much the better buy.... i have tried both of the products with/without cat, std. air filter/BMC & the booster plug gives for me the best results
