De-cat headers

Yep same as mine spot on quality and at reasonable price ,5k now and turning a lovely golden colour plus there Brit made :thumb2

Yes I have them.
Down side, which I hadn't noticed until I came to fit it, was that there is no support bracket to hold it at the back, like the standard one does. So far no probs but I would prefer to have had one!

Any chance you could post a photo or two of them on your bike?? (pretty please)

You can get the exhaust mounting pegs on eBay or use your old one. Then bolt on a car exhaust rubber hanger and attach it to the pipe with a suitable clamp.

The Remus ones (I think mine is a Remus, can't remember now) have the support bracket with the rubber thingie.

I love this forum................Cheers Bendy!!

2006 GSA i just cut my headers in half where the cat is, knocked it all out with a hammer a chesil and had it welded back up a grand some of £10 waaaaay cheaper then 200 odd quid

Was thinking of doing something similar. Cut out the cat altogether and have an exhaust specialist weld in some tube. I have the chrome headers and would like to keep them

The chrome header has a pressed steel section ahead of the catalyst. The cost of cutting that out, making a Y piece and welding would be lots higher than a used Remus or Akra or whatever.
Cutting, removing cat core and re welding is cheapest. If not the prettiest.

Why cut out ? just knock the inners out EASY job i cut mine right where the strap goes so you can't see nothing but! tbh i wish you could see the weld coz the guy did a amazing job

A word of warning, the pipes in this ad are for a R1200GS (which is exactly what the ad states I know!) not the Adventure, If you have an Adventure the Lambda probes need to be in the diagonal down tube not on the horizontal tube.

I learned this the hard way the lambda probes foul the crash bars when they are on the horizontal tube if fitting to an Adventure. :augie

Are we looking at the same ad? It clearly states

To Fit Make: BMW
Manufacturer: BMW To Fit Model: ADVENTURE
Model/ Series: BMW R 1200 GS ADVENTURE

(and a quick look on part numbers shows the same "manifold" (i.e. downpipes) used on both GS and Adventure versions...)

Erm I stand corrected there is a photo on the ad that shows them fitted to GSA /0\ That is puzzling the pipes I had (they were second hand off ebay) clearly wouldn't go on with the crashbars fitted perhaps you remove or loosen the crash bars first, didn't try that whoops

I am mechanically savvy, when I attempted to fit them they wouldn't fit the crash bars were in the way thought I made an error ordering the wrong pipes in the end I ordered the Remus ones from Motorworks which are more expensive but fit straight on and sold on the second hand ones.

Bracing myself.......

That's odd because my Adventure OEM headers had the lambda sensors in the horizontal pipe. I then fitted a Remus stainless header with the sensors on the angled pipe. I simply needed to unclip the sensor cable connectors from under the secondary coils, connect and then clip back in place. I then went to an Akraprovic titanium system and the sensors still fitted fine. All parts were bought used so I don't know if they were originally GS or GSA.

Re the header rear fixing, I got one with my Keihin headers but so far haven't bothered to fit it. The exhaust seems very solidly mounted without it.

The exhaust systems are identical on GS and GSA's. It's the crash bars which differ and some of the "cheaper" exhausts don't make allowances for this.
