Or maybe not too bad.

21.5 " desktop has been a bit sluggish coming out of sleep over the last couple of days. I shut down completely yesterday and today I can get nada, zero , nothing.

Now being a bit on the deaf side I can't hear whether it's bleeping or not. I can hear the fan appear to kick up and slow toa stop if I press the power button again. If I turn it upside down and power up there are NO led lights visible through the air intakes at the bottom..... what they prove I don't know but Apple tech had me check that some years ago when it went similarly tits up. They replaced under warranty then but didn't say what the problem was..

Any ideas,any 'techies' here ?

try holding the power button on for several minutes or until it starts up

No light grey screen.

Holding the power button in has no effect.

Thanks tufts, I'll give him a shout.... the other 2 that I found on the web can't be taxed to answer an online query...

Bloody similar thing happened to my 2 year old MacBook Air last month on a camping/ walking meet near plymouth organised off here last month.
Turned it off here at home come Sunday at the campsite and the bloody thing wouldnt start up. Still not responding to repeated attempts so I've chucked on the pile of 3 other MacBooks from the last 10 years gathering dust from the same issue.
So sorry I can't help but feel your pain.

Have you tried starting it up in safe mode?

Presumably that's when you count beeps and then press a few keyboard strokes? I've done that b4 with windows, but not a Mac . I'd give it a go but I don't hear the beeps ...... deaf b'stard..

O yes ... the fan spins up

Mac assist had a stab at

LVDS. Fault

Or

A GPU fault

What either of those are I don't know! £250 and £150 respectively ...
