Just went for a short trip to the shops and noticed..

- slightly 'fruiter-than-normal' exhaust note
- couple of mis-fires when revving a low revs
- rev counter seems dead - needle not registering any revs

Any pointers?

Both cylinders seem to be firing and runs fine at idle :nenau

I've just taken the bike out for another spin.

Both cylinders firing ok when riding normally, but theres a lag in power under hard acceleration which from experience happens when the secondary sparks (or one of) aren't firing.

I think they're my culprit. I'll probably just order 4 new ones, but can anyone tell me a quick way to check the sparks individually?

And the rev counter not moving is still weird?

Anyone got any ideas?

There's a common connection between the tacho's three pin connector (black pin 2)and the ignition coil assembley but I can't tell from my useless manual whether it's associated with the primary or secondary plugs.

If the primary coil within the ignition coil assembly is breaking down it will affect your sparks and may be pulling down your tacho pulses from the motronic.

And just like the, it's gone.

Either I must have dreamt it, the fix-it fairies have been or I unknowingly bought one of those self-repairing GSs?

None of these scenarios seems likely, however on driving to work this morning I had full power back under acceleration, and rev counter working fine.

Oh well, there's a new set of sparks and a spark plug tester on it's way anyway.
