I am now on my eigth f..king zumo I seem to get about three months out of them. The dealer has changed everything cradles power supply etc it is wired from the aux socket.I have now come to the conclusion that they are a complete ball of shite as I have had replacements that when taken out of the box have failed I have tried all the usual tricks like taken the batteries out etc.It seem's that garmin know about this problem and are willing to change the units when faulty without quibble.I am now going to buy the bmw gps as i'm f..king sick of this crap.:spitfire :spitfire

...and there was me thinking I'd done all right. My 2720 has been giving me gyp for 2 years, 3 replacement units, and Garmin finally upgraded me last week to a Zumo 550! Perhaps it wasn't such an upgrade.

Could the problem be the way you've mounted the units? BMWs vibrate and if you've got it bolted on yer handlebars the vibes are going to get to the GPS and f@ck it up.
I know about 15 people with Zumos on their Triumphs and not one has had a problem.
Not a dig at BMWs. Just reality.

Speedo seems like your having very bad luck but am not two steps behind ya. Am on my second unit and second craddle in 12 months. Seems like the only good thing about Garmin is there support service. :clap

Had mine for a year through some tough conditions and no probs other that rubber bits on mount splitting.

HI,

Mine's just died, computer cannot even see it, tried the reset.
Its about 18 months old and shot, funny, I expected it to happen at some point, so not overly suprised.

I had some good use out of it on the bike and in the car but looking at all the "can't swich on" and "freezing" faults...............I won't be recomending them to anyone.

Zumo dead

I hope you'll give Garmin an opportunity to 'make it right'....can't be doing with £500 of kit that only lasts 18 months!

Add another 550 to the list of deceased Zumo's

I had 11 months of use with about 5000 miles covered with it in use in that time.

Problems started with it needing to have the battery removed before it would fire up and now nothing at all will fire it up

Luckily it was just inside the warranty so its gone back today to Garmin no questions asked.

There seems to be a degree of inevitability that these Zumo units will all eventually fail in a relatively short period of time.

+1 Mine failed almost 12 months to the day, only the first time it had really been used in anger on the bike, packed-up midway through a trip to France :spitfire

At least Garmin's Customer Service can't be faulted in organising a replacement but no encouragement to read all these posts :(

Regards Bob

had mine on a pan euro st1300 and f**ing thing failed out in slovenia i think its crap anyway compared to the older streetpilot series
