Dear Steptoe.....Please help, I am a Dickhead !!

On another forum a guy with a diesel motorhome filled it with diesel.

Rather than fill the fuel tank (left hand side of vehicle, black cap), he filled the water tank (right hand side of vehicle, blue cap).

I’ll bet his morning tea tasted funny …

This is one of my biggest fears.
My car is diesel, so each time i ride the bike i have to constantly chant to myself "Petrol, petrol, petrol" when filling up lol

my wife’s car and both motorbikes are petrol. My pickup, the motorhome and the work pickup are diesel. It takes some remembering.

Poucher, just to let you know it hasn't done any lasting harm, had a nice day out today taking a pair of boots to Altberg to be resoled. It's running nicely.View attachment 403477

Is that my old bike then @shedman ??
If it is, please look after her, I have lots of great memories from that bike, fantastic little thing!

Hi Poucher
Yes it is your old R1100R, I bought it from Simon. I have had one before, about 23 years ago so knew what to expect. Nice to go back, especially with a bike with such good provenance.

That’s great to know Steve, having had one before, you know how good they are,…still miss her from time to time….

The wife put £70 of the local garages finest petrol in our diesel Golf , luckily she did not start it but it cost £150 on top of that to get the tank drained and then she had to pay £70 to fill it with diesel .
An e xpensive day

I’ve done it too, but only put about 4 litres of diesel in before I screamed “FUCK!” as I realised what I’d done. Pushed the bike off the pumps and phoned up a mate who drained it off. Refilled with the spenny stuff and off I went smoking into the sunset. Took a couple of tankfuls before it really ran ok.
