A mate's just bought a 2009 Deau that's done less than 2,000 miles.

The tyres are still the originals with, obviously, very little wear on them.
The side walls look fine, no visible cracking.

We're about to embark on a 2,500 mile European jaunt.

Would you recommend changing the tyres, and if so for what brand/model, or will they be okay?

they should be fine!
 
I would say fine too - Mate of mine's son just replaced the original front tire on ridiculously low millage 10 year old Kawasaki 1000, it was getting a bit hard... :D

Just fine....Remember Europe isn't Antartica, they sell tyres/oil/petrol/cables/bulbs etc all over Europe..;)

I had a 2006 Deauville and it used to do about 6000 miles per set of tyres. Just be aware the front is a particular model in the Bridgestone range (shit tyres anyway).

I appreciate the Deau isn't everyone's cup of chai but he did his direct access last year and it's his 1st bike.
He wanted something comfortable that he could do days out on, with somewhere he could store his jacket, boots etc when he arrived. Something he could take his wife on, a bike that he could accompany me on, on European jaunts that was capable of sitting at 80mph all day but that wasn't going to frighten him. A Deau fitted the bill and quite by chance a local Stealer had a gorgeous, low mileage example in.

Crucially, he liked it, bought it, loves it and as a consequence is getting more out of his motorcycling than he even hoped he might. He's a fully paid up convert.
 
Be kind to him in the twisties, the pegs deck before you start to lean...

At that age and mileage I'd be more concerned about seized calipers from lack of use than knackered tyres.

Again, than for the heads-up. He's getting a full service done on the bike before we go so mechanicals should be fettled.
 
Can't fault a Dullville really ... 'does what it says on the tin' type of machine - just does what it needs to without any excitement.
