Well, i've read all the threads, visited other sites and basically found out as much as I can about the above and a Garmin 2820.

I phoned GPS warehouse today about the 2820, which they had in stock but they do not have any power cables in stock, and they really don't know when they will have them in stock! Not to fussed as I do have my heart set on the Nav III.

Then Phoned my local dealer BMW dealer, who says he can get the Nav III in within 2 days - 995 quid. An extra 10 for the mount and 25 to fit. I think I also need a power cable, which I forgot to ask about - probably another 20 quid but i know they are able to source all parts within a couple of days.

So, i am looking at about 1,050 pounds!!!! I am very close to spending this within the next couple of days

My question is - if you have bought one, are you happy with it and are you pleased that you spent over a grand on one?

PS - I know I really don't need one, but I would simply like one! It would be a toy instead of a tool!

Thanks

I've got one, have been using it since the spring, and I am pretty happy with it. It's certainly the best motorcycle GPSR out there right now.

Your alternative is to purchase a Garmin 2820, which is for the most part the same thing. The BMW Navigator comes with the cradle that has the 4 extra buttons on it. The Garmin 2820 has a MP3 music player that the BMW version doesn't have.

That's pretty much the long and the short of it.

I am with Michael on this. Baring the odd glitch (see my thread) switching from V8 to V8NT+ everything else is excellent. If you are staying just in NT+V8 you should be OK.

All I have to do now is get the Bluetooth phone to work properly (voice in excellent, voice out scrambled), but that's a Sony problem I think.

Just bought one from BMW last week. You're right about the price
Very pleased with it, really useful for the home-work-home, and for the tesco run. I haven't been away anywhere to test it properly yet.
I'm waiting for the mount to arrive from Motoradd Concepts, so I haven't yet tried it on the bike.
It works fine in my Focus, which has a heated windscreen, so no problems getting a signal.
Go on buy it, you know you want to. :thumb
