Whenever I open a picture my pc uses paintshop pro to view it with. I want to change the default to windows picture viewer but I can't find the way to do this.

Thanks

Iain

Depends a bit on the operating system to some extent. You are trying to chance the 'Association'; in other words the program that opens that type of file by default. A "picture" can be in a number of file formats 'jpg', 'bmp' etc etc......

In Vista, click >Start >Default Programs >Choose the Program

You can also right click on the photo and intead of OPEN choose OPEN WITH..... and manually select from the options presented to you . The first method changes the association hereon in, the latter changes it just that once. :aidan

right click on pic

hover overOpen with

pick you program you want

and i think there is a box you tick to make the program the default

i think:aidan

well it's like that in vista.. i can't remember XP

go to

I'm on XP and it's mostly jpegs I want to open.

Thanks

my computer, select 'tools' then folder options. This will open a dialogue box. click the 'file types' tab and scroll down to jpeg or any file type you wish to associate with another program. When you get to 'jpeg' left click it once to highlight it then look below to see which program it opens with. If it is not the one you want click the 'change' button to the right side of the box and select the appropriate one.

You can do this for any file extension.
