I am just thinking it'd be nice to have a definitive technical check list so that you could read that one list and do all the wild and wonderful checks we find out through trial and error- example being- 1.yoke bolts, 2.rip tie on final drive gaitor, 3.fuel gauge setting, etc etc- putting all this valuable knowledge in one place- has anyone done a list like this? do you think it's possible?--

It would be possible .... and someone tried to do this very thing.
Unfortunately, the Green party got wind of the plans and put a stop to it.

Re PROPOSED TECH CHECKLIST FOR BMW 1200GS

Following an intensive and comprehensive study into the
amount of trees which would have to be felled if a significant
number of 1200 owners printed this list, it was found that
doing so would significantly accelerate the onset of global
warming.
Unlike the previous 1150 model which only required 2 pages
for such a checklist, the 1200 requires 50 pages of A4 sized
paper. This is not acceptable to people who have the planets
future existence foremost in their thoughts.

oh ok- one joke answer, i suppose that says it all...

It was my thinking that with all these random threads and having to search for stuff that a list of common technical faults that you could sequence in a list might be useful; instead or redressing the same topic over and over again... now i sound like all you guys...complaining all the time:augie

I was doing you a favour by bumping it. No appreciation these 1200 blokes :augie

In a way this is what I'm aiming for with the R1200GS 'How to' & FAQ's section of my website www.MotorcycleInfo.co.uk ..........in no way intended to compete with ukGSer (as if that would be possible!:D). This forum is indispensible but by it's very nature/structure presentation of information can be difficult (true of any 'forum' although ukGSer is better presented/structured than the majority!!)

It's a painfully slow process for numerous reasons not least of which is the time it takes.....and I already spend too much time on it :blast

If anyone does a writeup / is planning a writeup and would like to include it on my website please do let me know :thumb
