Hello guys(and gals)

absolutely new member here. Just joined yesterday as a matter of fact.
I came across your site as I was looking for info on a StreetPilot 111 I saw on offer.I have since purchased said item.(very official soinding there).

Ok, question here. Silly me has noticed if I press the enter button a little too heavily I "mark" some waypoints.I now have about 3 of these little blighters I want to get rid of.

The options are "save, show map or route to it".I would like to delete the blighters and be once again a little happy bunny.

Any idea how to?/

Thanks in advance

Pat

Hello Pat:

Welcome to the forum. Garmin makes the latest edition of the User Manual for all of their GPSRs available for free download from the Garmin website. Just click on this link Streetpilot III, and look in the upper left corner of the screen for the little tab that says 'Manuals'. Click on that tab, and you can download a User Manual in PDF format.

The answer to your question, along with lots of other useful information that will allow you to make the best use of your new GPS, will be found in that manual.

Michael,

Many thanks for your reply. I do have a manual supplied with the Streetpilot 111.I guess I may have skipped that page. Will look into it soon.

P.S. Are you the same Michael(maxpower)Moore on my-mc site.Your avatar looks familiar. If you are I have enjoyed reading your past posts.

I seem to remember struggling with exactly the same thing Pat, deleting routes is clearly described; deleting waypoints isn’t, page 28 ‘Finding a Waypoint’ seems to give some pointers,

Try, Press FIND > WAYPOINTS > use rocker to select waypoint and press ENTER use rocker to select ‘DELETE’ press ENTER

Deleting all waypoints maybe: Press FIND > WAYPOINTS, press MENU?

Not now having an SPIII I cannot confirm the above, but worth a try

Many thanks.I can just about delete "waypoints" but it's the "recentley found places" I am having trouble with. Some of them I created a waypoint and THEN managed to delete them but there is one stubborn intersection that just won't go away. Funnily enough it is the first "recently found" place.

I think I inadvertantely held "enter" button too long which is also a "mark" button.

Thanks again

Pat

Holding down ‘enter’ for over 2 seconds will create a waypoint; you do have the option to delete it when it pops up. On some GPS’s its called the MOB (man over board) so if you loose someone, you can sail back to them.

I don’t think there is a way to clear recently found places other than a perhaps a factory reset which is:

Hold down the quit button, route button, and up on the rocker pad. Press power button, wait until you get the first power-up screen then let go of the up and wait for the unit to come on fully then let go of the rest of the buttons.

I did have to do this once with my old SPIII when it went berserk, but it’s not normally recommended procedure. You will loose everything, waypoints, routes, your set up, and the GPS's location.

Your list of recently found places will become over written with other places as you use the GPS, I really wouldn’t worry about it.

Hi Pat:

Yep, same one. I was quite active on my-mc.com for a few years (2001 - 2003) but have not been active for some time. It's a great site, especially for the ST1100 - ST1300 riders. I made some pretty detailed posts there about the installation of a SP III on my ST1100 - if you go through the archives, you might find the pictures to be of use.

EBBO.

Many thanks for your help on this.I will leave as is for now.I don't really go into "recentley found" all that often.Just getting used to the buttons for now.My right hand thumb was injured a long while back on a rip saw at work.Altho still functional I have lost feeling in the tip.I guess it's that that is making me hold on to "enter" button for too long.
Thanks again.

Michael.

I thought your avatar was familiar.I have read your posts on SP111 instalation.Originally I was going to put mine where you had yours(In between the bars) but I couldn't justify cutting the plastic.,, The kit I bought from Gps warehouse recentley had a ram mount to enable me to put it off the brake/clutch elbow. I guess Ram Mounts weren't round when you did your installation.!!

Thank you again

Pat
