Hi,

I don't ride a BMW (sorry;) ), but I am looking for some technical info of them, for use in a Uni project. I'm not even sure what engine I'm looking at, other than a 'BMW Flat Twin'. :(

What I'm looking for though, is proper engine details. Things like cam profiles, engine costs, complexity etc. BMW (and every other manufacturer) are reluctant to give out any real info on their engines, so I'm wondering if any of you good people could help me out?

Thanks a lot.

I can send you a CD of workshop manuals, specs, parts lists etc if you like.
Send me a postal address and its yours.

All the best

Cheers, that would be great.

Trying to PM you my address, but it gets thrown back at me:confused: Is it some form of new member thing?

You can email me the details at

fergus dot cawley @ pfizer dot com

You can figure out the email address that way - saves me getting (more) unwanted spam.

You can download the BMW ETK from here. This should help you out. Let me know if you work out how to install the bloody thing coz I'm stumped:(

or you could get the details from a Haynes Manual .

Try the local library if you're a student.

Bear in mind the 'airheads' stopped around 1990 (?) and became 'oilheads'

Main differences - among others- is position of camshafts and no of valves.
