The German Alpine Road.

From Lake Constance (Bodenzee) to Salzburg (Austria)

Has anyone done this route?
Thinking about a run to Grossglockner and then in to the Dolomites for a few days then back up to Dunkirk in June.

I do not mind spending the 1st day bored on an autobarn however after that I am looking to enjoy myself.

Ideas so far are as follows:-

Boring motorway slog for 1 day from Dunkirk to Baden Baden.
Down the 500 from Baden Baden towards Lake Constance through the Black Forest.
German Alpine Road to Berchtesgarden
South to Grossglockner
Into Italy for 3 days in Dolomites
Head towards Andermatt in Switzerland on the small alpine passes (done this bit before & its fun!)
Back to Dunkirk via Metz.

What do you think, has anyone got any comments, suggestions etc.

I will be using Jack Hermans book re Bike Routes in the Alps as a guide.

I did it from Baden-Baden to Bodensee to Fernpass then I had to blurt some miles off to Salzburg on the Mway as I had an appointment in Vienna but I later did the bit from Traunstein - Berchtesgarden - Salzburg and its highly recommended.
