Devolo Home circuit network did the trick!

Looking at their 'blurb' whatever they're selling doesn't appear to replicate a wireless network. It isn't rocket science to setup a Windows network via a wireless router either, there's even a 'wizard' to help you, and it's all free !

Actually, for some of us it is! :eek

:rob

My supposedly good Netgear router fails to give me a signal further than one room away. I can't establish a secure wireless connection to my work laptop for VPN purposes as the W-whatever-its-called key keeps being spat out by the router interface and the Netgear helpline in Farawayland is f***ing crap. So I'm limited to the wired connection for all three machines I want to use and have no confidence that if I buy another one it will be any better. :spitfire

This sort of thing really does need to get easier - if it did, people like me (technological halfwits) will spend more money. If this company has made it easy by doing the same old thing - only in English with instructions that bear some resemblance to reality - then good for them.

Apart from that, its going really well. Thanks for your consideration.
