Myself and a few of the boys planning a run to scotland over Her Majesty's bank holiday in June, any advice on places to stay in Portree, Inverness and St Andrews???

Us too, we're going up to the Highlands with a couple of friends staying in a little B&B in Fort Augustus.

Its our second time there, we liked it so much we wanted to take our friends back there.

You could spend a night or two as guests in one her Majesty's fine establishments for free. In Inverness Porterfield offers in-cell sanitation, bunk-beds, fitments, electric power and TVs - reflecting modern standards of living.

Near St Andrews you can relax in the open atmosphere of Castle Huntly. The castle sits on top of a rocky outcrop surrounded by what is now farmland. In ancient times this land was marshy wilderness and the decision to locate the castle on the rock may have been taken with a view to the castle's defensive position in mind.
